Pending review, a new world record for Longest Unassisted Ocean Swim has likely been established.
Congratulations to Neil Agius, who completed a massive and unprecedented swim between the Mediterranean islands of Linosa and Gozo. Starting from Ponente Beach on Linosa, Neil swam 125.7 km (minimum swimmable route distance) over nearly 52 hours and cleared the water at Xlendi Bay, Gozo.
According to the MSF definition of this record, the swim may not be assisted by nonstandard equipment, or gain a net benefit from surface currents. Swim-hats off to Neil and his support team for this incredible performance.
